The reason is simple. It is snug. Heh, what I am saying is it fits the arm and the iPod well. I like the elastic strap which is adjustable and closes with the help of velcro.
There are holders of two different sizes that come with this one. My 30GB iPod fits great with one. I think the other one is meant for the Nano. When I am running the iPod stays in place and this allows me to keep my attention on the running and music and not a bouncing iPod.
