I always suggest using the FM transmitter only after exhausting all other options. Use a cassette adapter in your car tape deck. Or use a direct connection. For home use, a real docking station might be a much better option.

However one has to appreciate the improvements that Griffin has made over its previous transmitters. There are no more troubles with the volume, since it plugs into the dock connector. There is an instant start when the car starts and a pause when the car stops. Your iPod charges while in use. The cigarette lighter connection can be used to charge the iPod.

The flipside of this transmitter includes weak FM transmitter power. In addition the volume is too soft. Also, you are not allowed to use the 87.9 frequency directly. To do this you have to put it in ‘international’ mode.

This device would be great if the radio was a bit more powerful..
