Bluetooth is one of the great mobile phone related technologies around today. When you own a Bluetooth headset, what you have is a combination of microphone, speaker and battery in your ear. The set is light and comfortable. Aliph’s Jawbone Bluetooth Headset costs $120 and is really sleek.

The technology is great and the design is new – it makes you look good. You can choose your colors between silver, black and red. There is a choice of ear mounts and earbuds. You also get a wall charger that lets you charge the Jawbone for six hours of talk time.
Jawbone has innovative design and technology. The fact that it just uses two buttons and not four makes the Jawbone pleasingly minimalistic. Jawbone is very good at screening out noise. Many noise reducing earphones screen out only a portion of the various interfering sounds but Jawbone does a very good job at letting you hear the conversation at the other end.

You can hear callers even when the environment is noisy and the pairing with the phone is usually smooth and consistent. The only issue is the fit and if the fit was better this earphone would be perfect. Great technology hampered by a bad fit is what the Jawbone is.

The process of iPod to car integration has traditionally taken atleast 2 steps. This is due to software restrictions of Apple. Getting the music to play is one issue but to attend to phone calls in the middle of a drive is a completely different problem. It is simple to plug in the Dock Connection Accessory to the car stereo. FOr phone calls using the iPhones Bluetooth or headphone port is required.

The Tunebase Direct costing $70 changes much of this problem. Not only does this accessory work with the iPhone, it also works with current generation iPod Nano and Touch models. This accessory is made, so that you can hear both your music and your phone through the car speakers, the Tunebase Direct mic picks up your voice.

The design of the Belkin Tunebase is well done. The iPhone and iPod mounting dock has been reconceived, now the user experience is simplified and the dock is more versatile. There is also a spare USB port that lets you recharge 2 iPods/iPhones at one time. You can hear the callers voice distinctly using the car speaker system.

There are a few problems with this system as well. This microphone is near your waist and the callers sound distant and there is interference. The audio is not completely clean either. The all in one design called for sonic sacrifices and they were made. This system cannot be highly recommended, however if you can make compromises to achieve iPhone car integration, you may want to check it out. Maybe wait for superior sequels to the Tunebase Direct if you so wish.

Although iPod chargers and rechargeable batteries are not new, Griffin has combined them together to make them more interesting. You can charge both you iPod and your battery at the same time. These sets also work with the iPhone.

The Powerblock Reserve is essentially a transformed wall charger. You can plug the Powerblock reserve into your existing USB cable for iPhone or iPod charging via the USB port on the Powerblock Reserve. The included battery magnetically connects to the block. The power level is shown with three bright yellow lights and a large power indicator button on the top surface.

The wall blades flip close for easy storage. The Powerjolt Reserve is a car charger. It is bulkier than the previous version. The black plastic body has some classy chrome added. The battery can be charged on the Powerblock or Powerjolt

The USB cable is not included in this pack. Although there are some things we would like to see in this pack, overall it is worth the money. You will like these except for the cable omission.

Many practical considerations add to the utility and appeal of the P1 Pico Projector. This baby costs $239, who should buy it and why is discussed here. About the size of an iPod and twice as thick, there is a lot to speak of in this little device. There is a speaker, lithium ion rechargeable battery pack, and LED light and a LCOS Imager.

You can use this to create a relatively large video wall wherever you are. This is not the norm, so much so that it is appealing. So conceptually you can use this device to watch moveis and TV on a large dispaly and present photo-galleries on the road. All that is needed is a flat surface and a dark room.

This one is one of the few iPod and iPhone mini projectors out there. The resolution is 640 by 480. The images -still and moving will be well defined and the sizes will be larger than any devices out there currently. There are issues about this that should be known.

The video imager works great when the room is completely dark but add a little light and the images are ghostlike. When there is moderate lighting, this device is unusable. The maximum volume level of the speaker is lower than the iPhone’s. A lot of battery energy is when playing back videos. You probably have only an hour of battery use when playing videos.

This gadget works if you want dark room viewing for a short duration.

Many of their car mount releases have been much more costly than those of their competitors. This latest $100 mount is adjustable and useful. It is also very expensive. This is what the accessory does- an encased iPhone or iPod Touch can be mounted on top of a male dock connector with a female dock connector port at the bottom which lets you connect to your favorite audio accessory. The holder also works with the latest Apple and third party cables.

The only issue is that you will also need to connect a vehicle specific bracket which will cost $30 more. There is a bit of complex arrangement to be done after that. Once it is accomplished you have an iPod stand that has tilt swivel functionality that lets you adjust it to your eyes for easy viewing. If you choose to spend the $130, you get something that fits your favorite gadget even when it is in a case. Unfortunately you will need to buy a charger and an audio out solution. So you end up with a huge price of $155 atleast!

There are other accessories in the market that cost up to $100 less and offer only a mild discomfort compared to this one. This one offers the most vehicle specific mounting solution out there. It isn’t bad. Buy it if you have the extra moolah. If it cost half this amount I would recommend it. As it is however, it isn’t highly recommended. Buy it if you have the cash.

The iP9 for the iPhone and iPod cost $100. It is slightly different from the iH9. The iP9 has less bass and more treble. But they are mostly the same. The iP9 is about as good as the iP99 soundwise though it costs less. The sound difference is mostly imperceptible.

The iP9 works with the iPhone as well. The iP9′s power brick is small in size and wieght. The iP9 screen is bright and good. The other features are like the iH9. You get the iP9 in silver and black.
The only issue is that the volume and settings dials plug up with dust as time passes. As a result, the usability decreases. There needs to be a redesign of the rotating mechanisms around the grooves.

Although the iP9 seems to be a modest refit of the iH9, the body styling is good and the price tag is good compared to the sound. For iPhone 3G users it makes a great alarm clock, perhaps the best.

If you want only sound quality then perhaps a clockless dedicated speaker system is more your requirement. For putting alongside your bed, this makes a great system.

Silicrylic a rubber case – X shaped rear plastic frame combination is priced at $20. Three new caases have been released by Incipio for the second gen iPod and Silicrylic is one of them. The name sounds slick so is the case as good as it sounds? Lets find out. There is a video stand and a clear screen protector. The Silicrylic is available in three colors.

The idea is to combine the good points of plastic and rubber and benefit from their individual advantages. Non distinctive, yet a tad appealing overall, this case has a matte finish that makes it stable in the hand. A reasonable amount of bulk is added to the iPod by this case. It adds more bulk than Feather and Duroshot.
There are only two benefits vis a vis Duroshot. There is bottom port flexibility and a lower price in the Silicrylic, though. Overall this is a good case design and one we would recommend. It looks decent and is very functional. The choice of colors makes it individualised and this is something every iPod owner would appreciate. Recommended.

Nowadays iPhone and iPod accessory prices has hit the roof. This has become so evident that the problem has been even acknowledged by Apple. Add on microphones are an example of this. Stereo only mics appeared on the iPod scene two years ago starting at 50 dollars. Now monaural mic equipped earphones are available for just $29. Inpicio retails a dedicated microphone add on for just $18 now.

This Lloyd microphone add on is good in almost every department. It is designed for the fourth generation iPod Nano. Once plugged in, it fits well with the Nano and lets you hear clearly from any pair of headphones. Lloyd sounds really fantastic. It sounds better than the original from apple actually.

LLoyd is not only inexpensive, but it is also a really good quality accessory. In addition it works functionally with the Touch and Classic iPod models also. I could easily recommend this great product to you. If what you need is a monaural microphone for a 4G iPod Nano, then this is the automatic choice. Affordability and great quality make it instantly recommendable.

Many metal bodied iPod cases have been released in the last four years by the iPod. The iPhone and iPhone 3G are probably more challenging to make cases for because of their build. This $30 case is highly evolved and is a new perspective on such cases altogether.

The signal is a bit weaker due to the case but this is more important for users in areas where the signal is weak. This is one good looking metal case…gives your 3G the cover of a tank.
The only issue is the missing screen protection. This is one major omission. You have to compromise on wireless performance. Otherwise this is a good case. THe black version looks really clean and if Core cases pays a little more attention to the details in the next version of this case, then they have a hit on their hands.

Almost exactly the same as the Xtand for iPhone and iPhone 3G, The Xtand for iPod Touch comprises an aluminum table stand, a rotating iPod touch mount and a screw set that joins these two. Also included are rubber edge clips 4*2 which keep the iPod in place.

Access to the Dock Connector and headphone ports as well as Sleep/Wake button is available when the iPod is inserted into the mount. Assembling the Xtand is a simple procedure and not one to worry about. It works well with both 1G and 2G Touch’s.
You will like the aluminum frame and rotating mount design.ur If you want to place your iPod Touch on the desk in a manner that enhances the ambience then this device is highly recommended. It is well worth the $40 it costs.
