The Kensington 33199 scores highly when compared with other transmitters in its class. I have owned a Belkin and a Griffin iTrip. Both are decent FM transmitters but they do not charge my iPod. In addition my Belkin ran on batteries that had a life of only 15 hours. The iTrip worked fine initially, then started to pick up static on all the FM stations. The static went away only when the iPod was in hand. Even after this the sound was unclear.
With this transmitter, it controls the volume on the iPod and I was not able to get the sound as loud as I wanted to. Even so, it was not too muted. The volume was decent.
The Kensington looks cheap and flimsy but picks up sound well and gets strong signals. I found the sound pretty clean. You do not need the screen after you get the three presets. You can see the screen clearly if you turn it at a 90 degree angle. It cannot be easily read at the normal angle. I am quite satisfied with this piece. The price this speaker is available to buyers is $58.96.
